April in Paris

We've just gotten back from our last pre-baby getaway, and it was wonderful! Thanks to cheap inter-European travel, we were able to spend four days in Paris. The people were friendly, the city was brilliantly clean, and nearly everyone spoke English once they recognized our lack of French-speaking skills (usually right after one of us attempted "Bonjour"). We stayed in a small hotel near the Eiffel Tower, and had easy access to all the touristy spots we wanted to visit (for which Lori is eternally grateful, given the size of her belly). On Wednesday, we went ALL the way up the tower (scary but amazing), and then headed to Notre Dame.

Thursday morning, we waited in line for about an hour to visit the Rodin museum (Lori's favorite artist and the one thing she had been most excited to see in Paris). It was well worth the wait...

"The Kiss"

"The Thinker"

Afterward, we walked to the Arc de Triomphe, which is absolutely massive!

On Friday morning, we went to the Louvre, which is as amazing and overwhelming as everyone says it is! We saw some incredible things there, including the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo, and a statue of Pharaoh Ramses II, who is rumored to have been the Pharaoh during Moses' time. (Yes, there are pictures, but you'll have to visit the slideshow link below to see them. Insert evil laugh...)

"Cupid and Psyche"

There's really no way to follow up on the Louvre except to go to church. So we visited Sacre Coeur, and arrived just in time to hear some beautiful singing during the celebration of the mass.

Saturday morning we re-visited the park by the Eiffel Tower, had coffee and hot chocolate, and said goodbye to a really amazing city. Next time you're over, you should definitely go!

If you've read this far and would like to see more pictures (including pictures of "the belly" at famous landmarks), here's a link to our slideshow. If you'd like to see more from the Rodin Museum (and you know you would!) here is that link. Enjoy!

Mac-Vador (and the man who loves the pitts)...great stuff. So fun. I can't wait to see baby-blogs. This kid's gonna come out singing and quoting Lord of the Rings...with a serious accent! ;0)
Love you both.
